And that is precisely the reason why we don't get the luxury of trying to sell bullshit to anybody. Fabio (Beizmen/Bazman/Basmati/Beizboll etc) has worked for the past 12 years as a tour guide in Rome and it's been fun and worthwhile. Hell, he even got to get Mark freakin' Zuckerberg on a Colosseum tour. Until...
And so all of a sudden there was a lot of time off. At that point there where only two choices not to waste all of that time and/or go insane: a) getting in shape, try and lose a few pounds or b) start studying thermodynamics, work to make a start up happen in a field in which he had no expertise, capital intensive and with extremely high chances of insucces.
So obviously the path of least resistance was chosen.
It starts as tinkering, but as time goes by and more knowledge is acquired, it looks less and less like a pastime and more like something worth pursuing. A problem is identified, an already existing solution is analyzed, the question "is it possible to do it better" gets an answer. The funds aren't there, a lot of doubts need to be addressed , extra skills have to be learned, there is no team. Two years pass, trying to scrap together the first few building blocks to get real.
And so we start. A stupid name is chosen, a shitty logo is designed while drunk, a plan is made (while sober) and the company is founded.
Mark Zuckerberg didn't tip.
